What's the Difference Between Jazz and Hip Hop?
The jazz style of dance is what is seen in many Broadway type shows such as "Cats". It is a more structured, stage style of dance. Jazz teaches technique of how to stand with proper alignment and how to do turns and jumps along with steps such as Pas de bourre'e.
Hip Hop is a fast higher energy type of dance seen in music videos and commercials. Dance moves seen in shows such as Chris Brown, or Janet Jackson would be typical examples of Hip Hop. Within a Hip Hop class, you will study how to pop 'n' lock, crumping, and lyrical hip hop.
